(OT-a little)
Mac mentioned Diz. Years ago, I took off early to see Diz and a young trio play the Opera House here in Lexington. He was GREAT, as usual.
It was a Saturday night.
Every Monday, I traveled for my day job. I was on an early morning layover/transfer on the way to Lincoln, Nebraska. Diz was there, waiting for a flight-about 8:00 AM, in his customary brown leather sports coat and black leather pants, reading the paper. Think we were somewhere in Iowa.
I told him how much I enjoyed his set the previous Saturday night.
"Oh Yea", he said, smiling. "Where was that"?
Thus the nickname "Dizzy".
